New Boss

I officially have a new boss. There was nothing really wrong with my old boss. He didn't know much about the technical details, so he listened to my recommendations and generally supported my positions. Can't ask for much more than that. My new boss is an older guy. He is pretty easy to work for. He doesn't really mind too much when people slack off. Unfortunately he does not understand the computer/IT/technical side of things at all. To compensate for this he has always hired consultants. Hiring consultants for certain things is ok, but when you do it all of the time you don't keep any knowledge in house, and that is never good. I can't see the sense in hiring a consulting firm when I can solve the problem with a Ruby/Perl/whatever script in under a day or two. I think that we will probably run in to some disagreements over that. Oh well.
